    • Oh yeah, the sky is the limit! As a priceless community asset, this blog is worth so much more than people around here can possibly afford, but give what you can.

  1. Hey! Since now the state parks are being given to non-profits to privatize, why don’t you start a community campaign to get your hands on Benbow Lake State Park? All that prime real estate just waiting for some visionary non-profiteer to turn the communities dream into something for some people.
    No accountability required!

  2. Morning John,

Did you know? The Community Park Board has paid out $102,352.00 in Compensation, salaries, wages and payroll tax during 2008, 2009 & 2010. The Park Boards 990 tax return does not show who was paid $36,400.00 in 2008, only to say “other salaries and wages”. However, Kathryn Lobato was paid $52,226.00 in compensation during those 3 years, with $13,726.00 paid out for payroll tax by the Community Park for compensation. So much for being a volunteer Board.

The list goes on and on. How much $$$,$$$.$$ do you think Tim Metz and Stephen Dazey have been “compensated” while on the Park Board is another amazing fact. And all in the name of “Community”. Thank god they are looking out for all of us.

  3. Morning John,

Do you know anyone with a KMUD talk show that would allow me too share uncomfortable and documented facts about the Park Board and how they use public donation for private and personal interest. I have been requesting some form of once a month talk show, KMUD don’t want it or need it they say. And I am sick of hearing this one sided BS from Huber on KMUD. I have request to be on MMM with Dennis, four different time over the years and NOPE. Here is what I sent Dennis and KMUD yesterday:

    Morning Dennis;

I wanted to know when time will be available for my view point that you and Mr.McKee talked about on KMUD this morning? It would only seem fair, as a public broadcast radio station, e.g. KMUD Monday Morning Magazine, that KMUD would allow me time to defend myself after what you and Mr. McKee publicly discussed and asserted, concerning myself, by name, on the air this morning.

I want to Thank you for bringing up my letter to the editor, but your point of view is one sided. You made no effort to contact me or make available my view point. Is this the benefit of a public radio station, to make comments concerning a member of the public without the benefit of documented facts? It would seem you need to support your claims and assertions by allowing me to speak for myself, by providing documented facts to support my letter to the editor, i.e. without putting words in my mouth, misleading the public and innuendo.

    KMUD’s Vision and Mission Statements:

Vision Statement: Redwood Community Radio envisions a community of listeners who, guided by example of RCR programming, work together to create better, more just and sustainable world systems to ensure that all human and other living species on earth move toward higher quality of life and are able to survive the challenges in the times ahead.

Mission Statement: Redwood Community Radio will encourage a communication center of open airways (KMUD) for all voices to inform, educate, entertain and inspire the listening community through quality programming.

    Thank you,

    Ed Voice

    • Not unless those facts are about Ham radio. I Host The SHARC Report, a show for radio lovers. But….
You might talk to John Christianson, our local librarian. He has hosted shows in the past, and you might find him sympathetic to your cause. I heard Dennis Huber’s show as well, and agree that it was very one-sided, and not very enlightening. Good luck getting your side aired!

  4. Just some facts and how the Park Board spends public donations for private interest.

    1. You need to read the Park Boards Articles of Corporation:

    Click to access SHCP-ArticlesOfInc-2002-01-29.pdf

Check out article “two” and “six”, these are not just words, they are state and federal law. Tell me how the Park Board can justify using public donations to benefit private individuals, i.e. using public donation to further the Park Boards County Lot Line Adjustments for private gain, e.g. Buck Mountain Ranch LP & Dazey. I thought Mr. McKee did a super job, making it crystal clear that he and Dazey didn’t pay anything toward the Park Boards Lot Line Adjustment (LLA), because of their “good deeds”? It is my view, after reading all the facts and documents, the Park Boards LLA only benefited Buck Mountain Ranch LP and Dazey, not the community and certainly not the tax exempt purposes of the Community Park, under section 501c3.

    2. You also need to read the Park Boards ByLaws:

    Click to access SHCP-Bylaws-2002-03-28.pdf

Please check out Page 14, Article 11, Section 1. Please explain how Buck Mountain Ranch LP and Dazey can privately gain, profit and benefit by not paying 2/3 of the Lot Line Adjustment costs. The Park Boards records shown from 2000 to 2008 paid out over $200,000.00 in Lot Line Adjustment related expenses: Anthropological and Historical Reports, Biologists Reports, Cultural Resources Management Plan, Hazardous Substances Report, Geological Report, Hydrogeological Report, Septic Report, Floodplain Studies, Well Production Study, Planning Consultants, Conservation Consultations, Land Appraisers, Land Surveyors, Legal Fees etc…

    3. My “six figure” comment in the paper for the costs of the Park Boards LLA comes from the Park Board’s own Financial History document:

    Click to access SHCP-Historical-Financials.3-31-2010.pdf

    4. If I am so wrong and the Park Board, McKee and Goldeen are so right, why are they and KMUD so afraid of putting me on the air and talk about it in public?

  5. Exactly. My point is the Park Board has never been accountable to anyone. The Community needs to know how they spend public donation, its not for the public benefit!, it sure as hell is not being used for the benefit of the Community. Same with the Park Boards General Plan Amendment for rezoning the Park as a Commercial Concert/Festival venue site, Camping, Parking Lots and Housing. Nothing they spend public donations on benefits the Community, the public, wildlife, or the environment. It only benefits private interest, Park Board investors and paid sponsorships.

The Park Board is a “Private Rent-a-Park”, not a Community Park. Nothing has changed about what this community has said or questioned from the beginning,

    Less is more………..
